AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a global specialty property casualty insurer, has launched a new subsidiary, East Reinsurance Services (East Re), a new treaty property reinsurance business unit led by Kevin Sullivan as the Head of Property Reinsurance.

East Re will provide proportional treaty property reinsurance solutions across North America.

The reinsurer will initially focus on US property and specialty treaty reinsurance, with an emphasis on E&S property, inland marine, builders risk, high-value homeowners, and specialty property.

The firm aims to take on a collaborative, relationship-driven approach when working with insurers to develop solutions supporting growth, strengthening portfolios, and helping navigate an evolving risk landscape.

Sullivan is a seasoned insurance and reinsurance executive, with over three decades of industry experience. Before joining AmTrust in 2024 to start up the E&S Property division, he spent his entire career as a treaty property underwriter.

Prior to that, he was Head of Specialty Property at AXA XL Reinsurance, where he helped develop the underwriter strategy, pricing, managed the portfolio, and business development.

In the past, Sullivan has also managed and underwritten a substantial treaty book and works closely with actuarial and risk modeling teams to ensure disciplined underwriting and technical pricing

Sullivan, in a statement, said, “I’m excited to share the launch of East Reinsurance Services (East Re), a new treaty property reinsurance business from Am Trust Financial Services, Inc. After more than 30 years in the reinsurance industry, I’m looking forward to helping build a platform focused on underwriting discipline, technical expertise, and long-term partnerships.

“What excites me most is getting back to my roots of building lasting relationships with brokers and insurers while creating a sustainable, diversified portfolio. Thank you to everyone who helped bring East Re to life. If you’d like to learn more about East Re or discuss potential opportunities, I’d welcome the conversation.”
