Technology-driven project management firm MISSION Underwriters has announced the launch of its Latin America platform and the appointment of Alejandro Pedroza to the newly created role of President, Latin America.
MISSION’s Latin America platform, operating out of Miami, will focus on building specialized temporary reinsurance programs and expanding the company’s presence in key markets in the region.
The firm will work with experienced underwriters to identify niche opportunities and cultivate these specialized programs for Latin America exposure, initially targeting real estate, financial businesses and specialty areas.
“We are excited to bring MISSION’s experience in building start-up, de novo insurance programs to the Latin American market,” said Jim Dwane, CEO of MISSION. “I am excited to reunite with my former colleague Alejandro Pedroza. Building on MISSION’s success in the U.S., we work together to bring high-quality underwriting and risk analytics and top-tier capabilities to the market.”
Pedrosa brings his two decades of reinsurance experience in Latin America to his role as president, leading the new platform.
The executive most recently served as CEO of a reinsurance brokerage firm operating in the region. Prior to that, he served as CEO of AIG Ecuador and held senior regional leadership roles at AIG, including regional counsel for Latin America, chief operating officer of AIG Brazil and leader of the Andes region.
“MISSION is well-positioned to deliver significant value to the Latin American insurance market,” said Pedroza. “I’m excited to join the team and expand MISSION’s goal of helping world-class underwriting talent build businesses.”
This international expansion marks another step in MISSION’s development. In 2025, the company’s gross written premium (GWP) reached US$700 million after successfully launching five new projects in the market, demonstrating its strong momentum heading into FY2026.
