American International Group (AIG), an insurance organization providing commercial and personal insurance solutions in more than 200 countries and jurisdictions, has promoted Sameer Mir to the role of Reinsurance Manager, GCC and North Africa.
Mir’s appointment follows nearly 16 years with AIG, during which time he held a range of underwriting, business development and client-facing roles in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
Throughout his career at AIG, he contributed to the company’s commercial insurance operations, portfolio management and regional market development.
Prior to his new role, Mir served as a senior underwriter for commercial real estate at AIG MEA Limited in Dubai, where he was responsible for managing the renewal portfolio, developing new business opportunities and supporting underwriting performance across the region. His responsibilities include portfolio analysis, interim reinsurance arrangements, underwriting compliance, client engagement, technical training, internal audit and collaboration with risk engineering, claims and finance teams.
Earlier in his career at AIG, Mir served as a business development manager in Kuwait, focusing on commercial line growth, strengthening broker and partner relationships, developing distribution channels and supporting sales strategies. He also served as Business Development Officer for AIG MEA Limited and Customer Service Officer for AIG Kuwait.
Prior to joining AIG, Mir served as head of commercial operations at Millennium Insurance Brokers LLC, where he oversaw the commercial risk portfolio and insurance company relationships.
In his new role as GCC and North Africa Reinsurance Manager, Mir will leverage his extensive underwriting expertise, market knowledge and long experience within the organization to support AIG’s reinsurance activities in the region.
