Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS), a division of Zurich Insurance, announced the establishment of a dedicated data center risk consulting practice, composed of more than 100 engineers, focused on risk prevention and mitigation throughout the data center life cycle, especially for hyperscale and artificial intelligence-driven facilities.
The formation of this practice significantly expands ZRS’ existing expertise in data center projects, providing clients with enhanced, in-depth support from the initial planning and construction stages through to ongoing operations of fully functional facilities.
“We recognize that data centers and artificial intelligence play a vital role in the world – driving innovation, increasing efficiency and solving complex challenges,” said Craig Phillips, managing partner of advisory services at Zurich Resilience Solutions US. “We are proud to help clients navigate the complexities of data center construction, reduce risks and costs, and improve project outcomes.”
The formation of the new consulting practice builds on the recent launch of Zurich’s data center project protection solutions.
Billed as the first of its kind, it expands and tailors Zurich’s builders risk insurance coverage to address the unique risks and loss drivers of modern data centers.
Data center investment is soaring, increasing 92% year-on-year to US$32.9 billion in November 2025, and global investment is expected to reach US$6.7 trillion by 2030.
This rapid expansion increases operators’ exposure to risks such as costly delays, outages and safety incidents, making dedicated risk engineering critical for proactive mitigation.
Currently, Zurich supports over $1T of data center assets in more than 20 states, providing consulting services from planning to operations. This new team enhances ZRS’ capabilities specifically providing risk mitigation services to digital infrastructure hyperscale providers, contractors and developers.
The team’s expertise spans data center planning, construction, property, critical equipment, operational resiliency, physical/cyber risk, business continuity and extreme weather.
Zurich noted that this depth of knowledge has resulted in a Transaction Net Promoter Score (TNPS) of 97, reflecting the high level of customer trust in ZRS’ services.
Jon Tate, director of core risk engineering at Zurich Resilience Solutions in the US, promised: “With more than 100 risk engineers specializing in data centers and supported by a wider team, each with an average of 26 years of experience dealing with different industries and hazards, the new practices reflect our 360-degree view of risk.
“This approach helps our clients identify and address challenges at every stage of a project – from construction to operations, supporting resilience and long-term success.”
