Zurich Insurance, a multinational insurance provider offering commercial and retail insurance, has completed a 90-day deployment of Cytora’s agency AI risk digital platform in five countries.
Cytora is an insurtech company focused on artificial intelligence-based risk processing, and Zurich Insurance plans to expand its operations to more than 20 markets in the next 16 months.
Zurich Insurance Company has developed a fully integrated underwriting model in which Cytora runs as an upstream intelligence layer in its underwriting workflow.
Using Cytora’s platform, Zurich Insurance can transform unstructured, multi-lingual insurance submissions into structured, decision-ready risk data aligned with its global underwriting framework, improving consistency across markets.
Zurich Insurance reported significant operational improvements following the deployment. Manual triage time was reduced by 80%, from 75 minutes to 15 minutes. Digitization accuracy increased from 70-80% to 98%, while ingestion straight-through processing increased from 10% to 95%. Zurich Insurance has also established a repeatable deployment approach designed to support faster international expansion of the platform.
Before adopting Cytora, Zurich insurance underwriters were required to manually review and interpret each submission, which limited capabilities and created inconsistent priorities. Multiple disconnected systems also slow down the decision-making process. Zurich Insurance aims to reduce quoting times by up to 60 minutes by automatically converting submissions into decision-ready risks and increasing the number of submissions that can be processed efficiently.
Zurich Insurance selected Cytora because of its configurability, commercial insurance expertise and its ability to process unstructured, multilingual input at scale as a headless digital layer. Cytora enables Zurich Insurance to define a consistent global view of risk while adapting to changes in local markets. The platform also provides output in local languages by default, providing Zurich Insurance teams with locally relevant insights in a globally standardized system without the need for customized local solutions.
“Cytora combines cutting-edge technology with a winning team to deliver fast, collaborative, high-quality results faster than ever before,” commented Armin Schaefer, Head of Customer and Digital IT, Commercial Insurance and Program Director at Zurich Insurance Company.
Richard Hartley, CEO of Cytora, added: “Through this collaboration, we have created a model that can quickly and efficiently deploy agent AI-driven automation across Zurich’s global operations. Without compromise, we have achieved significant efficiency savings.
“Zurich can launch new markets and products with minimal setup while adapting to local needs, delivering consistent, accurate, decision-ready output every time. This partnership demonstrates the power of agent AI to deliver tangible, immediate results on a global scale.”
