Verve Risk Services (Verve), a specialist underwriting agency, has launched Verve Professions, a new unit expanding the firm’s mid-market errors and omissions (E&O) offerings to include architects, engineers, law firms and accountants domiciled in the US, appointing Jason Clark to head it.

Verve was established in 2016 as an underwriting cell of Castel Underwriting Agencies Limited, writing professional and management liability products for insurance companies, agents and brokers in the US, Canada, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Barbados. The team completed a management buyout in 2023 with investment from B.P. Marsh & Partners Plc.

Clark brings 30 years of experience in the US and international directors and officers (D&O) and professional indemnity markets.

Most recently, he served as Senior Underwriter – US and International E&O at Faraday Underwriting. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Allied World, where he was Vice President, Class Underwriter and Head of Professional Indemnity.

Scott Simmons, Director at Verve, said, “Launching Verve Professions with Jason’s addition to the team further strengthens our professional liability expertise and offerings. Working with experienced and likeminded underwriters and supporting them to build and grow their business is a core part of our strategy to expand as a specialist mid-market managing general agent business.

“Having known Jason for a number of years, I am confident that he will contribute to our success and that our broking community will welcome his return to the market as part of the Verve team.”

Clark commented, “Scott and the Verve team have a deep understanding and innovative approach to underwriting solutions for these specialist markets. I have known Scott since we both started in the market. We have a very similar underwriting ethos and outlook on life.

“The Verve platform is nimble and provides the support underwriters need to create sustainable business growth. These factors combined with 100% Lloyd’s capacity and the support of a knowledgeable and committed backer in B.P. Marsh, drove my decision to join Verve.”

Clark’s appointment follows the recent launch of Verve Financial Institutions (Verve FI), which offers financial lines products globally, with tailored solutions for banks, stock exchanges, alternative lenders and asset managers serving SME to mid-market financial institutions.
