US President Donald Trump stunningly declared Wednesday he doesn’t ramble. Then, of course, he rambled. (Watch the video below.)

The president made his claim during a midterm rally in South Carolina ― and he rambledbefore he said he didn’t ramble too.

Rambling is arguablypart of his brand ― the wild asides, the lies, and the fits and starts in his speech.

He had just transitioned from a claim that he was not allowed to win Time magazine’s Person of the Year award two years in a row to suddenly declaring, “But uh, we also made English the official language of the United States.”

Then this:

“I hope you’re having a good time today! ’Cause I’m in a good mood! I’m in a very good mood. I hope you’re having a good time. Is everybody having a good time? Because the fake news would say, ‘He rambled.’ I don’t ramble. I got ten — I know everything I’m so — I got aptitude that they dream about, so you know, they’ll say he rambled. No, no, as long as the stories keep coming back. You know. As long as — no, but I just — I’m in a good mood today. Think of it. I won the presidency.”

One observer summed up the moment thusly, “He’s rambling while talking about how he doesn’t ramble.”
