As part of its strategic growth plans for the Specialty Reinsurance team, Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Ed Hughes as Marine Reinsurance Underwriter.
In his new position, Hughes will support the growth of the specialty marine reinsurance division and help further enhance the team’s underwriting capabilities.
He will be reporting to Claire Wallace, Divisional Head of Marine Reinsurance at TMK, who commented: “Ed brings excellent market knowledge and strong technical expertise that will further bolster our Marine Reinsurance team.
“As we continue to develop our offering and provide the flexibility and range of solutions the market increasingly demands, his experience will help us continue to deliver the responsive underwriting approach and long-term partnerships that our clients value. He’s a great fit for the team, and I look forward to working with him as we continue to advance our position in the marine reinsurance market.”
Hughes joins TMK from reinsurance broker Marsh Re, where he most recently served as Vice President of its Global Marine, Energy and Technical Lines specialty practice. This tenure contributed to his over three years of specialised marine reinsurance experience.
Prior to this, he held Reinsurance Broking roles in cyber and crisis management and aviation at Marsh Re and Guy Carpenter.
Commenting on the appointment, Phil Taylor, Head of Specialty Reinsurance at TMK, said: “Ed’s appointment demonstrates our continued commitment to investing in talent and strengthening our specialist reinsurance platform.
“Marine is an important area of growth for our business, and clients increasingly value partners that can combine underwriting expertise and stability through all phases of the market cycle. Ed’s experience and market relationships will be invaluable as we continue to expand our marine capabilities and build on the momentum of our Specialty Reinsurance business.”
