Munich Re has appointed Thomas Blunck to take responsibility for its Property and Casualty (P&C) Reinsurance business in Europe and Latin America, effective 1 November 2026.
Blunck, who will continue in his role as CEO of Reinsurance, will assume the additional responsibility from Clarisse Kopff, who will step down from the Board of Management of Munich Reinsurance Company by mutual agreement at the end of 31 October 2026.
Kopff’s departure follows a four-year term on the board. Munich Re said she would not be replaced on the Board of Management.
Blunck has been a member of Munich Re’s Board of Management since October 2005, having joined the reinsurer in 1999 as Head of Strategy/Economic Research.
During his time on the board, he has held a range of responsibilities across the group, including Special and Financial Risks, Europe and Latin America, and Life and Health.
Since January 2023, he has chaired Munich Re’s Reinsurance Committee, with responsibilities spanning corporate underwriting, claims, reinsurance reserving and other core functions.
His remit was subsequently adjusted as part of an organisational restructuring in 2025 and 2026.
Munich Re’s Board of Management and Supervisory Board thanked Kopff for her commitment and service to the company, wishing her well for the future.
