Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, a CRC Group company focused on specialty insurance underwriting, has appointed Ashley Orth as its new Chief Operating Officer.
The appointment comes as the business continues to develop its specialist underwriting operations and expand its portfolio.
Orth joins the senior leadership team with almost two decades of experience across the insurance sector, including roles spanning underwriting, operational management and executive leadership.
At Starwind Specialty, she will be responsible for overseeing the company’s operational strategy and implementation, with a focus on supporting the growth of its underwriting businesses and strengthening its wider operating structure.

As Starwind continues to grow, we’re investing in the leadership and operational infrastructure that will support the next phase of our business. Ashley brings the experience, discipline, and strategic perspective to help us build a stronger, more scalable organization while preserving the entrepreneurial culture that has fuelled our success.”
Orth has held responsibility for a range of business-wide initiatives during her career. Her experience includes underwriting operations, programme development, reinsurance strategy, governance, operational transformation and technology integration. The company also highlighted her work in developing operating models, enhancing underwriting performance and establishing processes intended to support sustainable and profitable growth.
Brian Norman, Co-President of Starwind Specialty, added: “Ashley has a proven ability to translate strategy into operational excellence. Her experience improving underwriting operations, implementing scalable processes, and leading complex initiatives will strengthen our platform and better position our underwriting teams to continue delivering exceptional service to brokers and carrier partners.”
The appointment is part of Starwind Specialty’s wider investment in its operational infrastructure, as the company works to support an expanding range of specialty underwriting businesses. According to Starwind Specialty, the focus will remain on maintaining disciplined underwriting practices while continuing to provide service to brokers and carrier partners.
Orth said: “Starwind has built an outstanding reputation by combining specialised underwriting insight with a strong commitment to its brokers and carrier partners. I’m excited to join the organisation at this stage of its growth and look forward to working with the team to enhance our operational capabilities, support continued innovation, and build an even stronger foundation for the future.”
In her new position, Orth will have responsibility for operational strategy, underwriting operations, technology delivery and business transformation across Starwind Specialty. She will also work with the company’s underwriting leadership as it seeks to support further growth and operational development.
