Starr, an investment and insurance organisation and the marketing name for the investment business of C. V. Starr & Co., Inc. has appointed Duncan Ellis as Executive Vice President (EVP), Client Engagement, with his new role taking effect on 2 October 2026.
Ellis joins Starr with more than 30 years of experience in the insurance sector, having held senior positions at both Marsh and AIG. His career has covered insurance broking, underwriting, management and client engagement, alongside a particular focus on property insurance.
At Starr, Ellis will be responsible for the company’s client engagement activities, working to develop its relationships with clients and business partners. His role will also include bringing together the capabilities available across its various lines of business to support those relationships. He will report directly to Steve Blakey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Starr Insurance Holdings.
Ellis spent a significant part of his career at Marsh, where he most recently held the position of Managing Director and US and Canada real estate and hospitality industry practice leader. His responsibilities there included working with clients in the real estate and hospitality sectors across the US and Canada.
Earlier in his career, Ellis held several senior positions at AIG. He ultimately served as Head of Retail Distribution for North America, giving him experience within a major international insurer as well as his previous work in the broking sector.
