Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer SiriusPoint has appointed Mark Aspinall as head of its new Fine Arts and Coins team, effective January 2027.

In his new role, Aspinall will be based in London and report to Chris Fenn, global head of maritime at SiriusPoint.

He will be responsible for building SiriusPoint’s new fine art and coin products and building a disciplined portfolio that covers exposure to high-value assets.

The business unit focuses on fine art institutions, galleries, private collections, luxury retailers, auction houses and secure shipping providers.

Aspinall has over 35 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s and London insurance markets, specializing in complex international art, coins and high value risks.

Most recently, he served as senior underwriter of fine art and coins at Liberty Specialty Markets. Prior to this, Aspinall held senior underwriting positions at Travelers Syndicate 5000.

David Govrin, Group President and CEO of SiriusPoint Global Reinsurance and London Market Specialties, commented: “Mark’s addition to the team reflects our continued focus on building targeted specialty capabilities where we see clear opportunities for affordable business and profitable growth.

“Mark’s deep technical expertise and strong broker relationships are critical as we build scalable fine art and coin offerings within our specialty platform that complement adjacent marine categories such as cargo and war, political violence and terrorism.”

Aspinall’s appointment follows the appointment of Ed Winter and Paul Beattie to lead the reinsurer’s new crisis solutions offering, as well as crisis solutions underwriter Ella Stevenson. The team will initially focus on risks of war, political violence and terrorism.
