Specialty insurer RLI Corp. has promoted Kathleen Taylor to Vice President (VP), Controller and Treasurer, Katie Kappes to Chief Administrative, Amy Braet to VP of Human Resources, and Ross Edwards to VP of Claim Counsel.
Currently, Taylor serves as VP, Accounting and Branch Operations. In her newly expanded role, Taylor will oversee RLI’s Financial Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, Tax Accounting and Treasury teams.
Taylor joined RLI in 2002 as a Reinsurance Administrator and has since held several accounting and operations leadership roles. She has three decades of experience in accounting, finance and insurance.
Kappes has 24 years of experience in human resources and insurance. In her new role, she will provide strategic leadership for key corporate support functions, including Human Resources, Branch Operations, Facilities, Print & Mail and Corporate Secretary.
She joined RLI in 2006 as a Compensation & Benefits Accountant and has since held several human resources leadership roles, most recently serving as VP of Human Resources.
Most recently, Braet served as Assistant Vice President (AVP), Talent Management, having joined the firm in 2005 as an intern and holding roles of increasing responsibility since. She has 21 years of experience in human resources and the insurance industry.
In her new role, Braet will lead RLI’s Human Resources organisation, responsible for talent strategy, organisational development, and the employee experience.
Most recently, Edwards served as AVP of Claim Counsel, having joined RLI in 2017 as Claim Manager. In his new role, Edwards will have executive leadership responsibility for and oversight of company claim-related litigation.
Edwards has 18 years of experience in law and insurance claims and has held several claim leadership roles with the firm, including Claim Director, AVP of Claim, and AVP of Claim Counsel.
