Cindy Crawford has spoken out for the first time following the death of her son, Presley Gerber.
Last month, a spokesperson for Cindy and her husband Rande Gerber confirmed their eldest child, Presley, had died at the age of 27.
On Sunday evening, the supermodel shared her heartbreak in an Instagram tribute to her late son.
“We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother,” she and her family said in a statement. “We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever.”
The post continued: “We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain.”
“Til we meet again our sweet boy,” the tribute concluded. “We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”
Presley’s sister, the actor Kaia Gerber, also posted her own tribute on Sunday, containing candid footage of herself and her brother playing as children.
“I love you the bluest, to the moon and back and back again, forever big brother,” she wrote.
The family first issued a statement to CBS News in the wake of Presley’s death via a publicist, which said: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Like his mother, Presley was best known for his work in the modelling industry, making his runway debut in a Moschino show at the age of just 16.
He later signed with IMG models, going on to work with labels including Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana, as well as appearing in a 2018 Pepsi advert with his mother, recreating her own campaign for the brand released more than 25 years earlier.
Throughout his time in the spotlight, Presley spoke openly about his issues with addiction and his mental health.
“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” Prelsey told the podcast Studio 22 back in 2023.
“It is an issue,” he shared. “It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it.
“That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment.”
Presley continued: “I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”
