Rivals fans, we’re happy to report that our six-month wait is almost over.
On Tuesday afternoon, Disney+ shared a first-look trailer for the second half of season two, picking up where that gripping finale left off.
The trailer reintroduces us to a grieving Lord Baddingham, still grappling with the loss of his wife Monica, with David Tennant teasing an even darker side to his character, who now has “nothing left to do but fight”.
Meanwhile, things continue heating up between Danny Dyer’s Freddie Jones and Katherine Parkinson’s Lizzie Vereker as their affair reaches new levels.

“As the return to the scandal and excess of 1987 edges closer, the residents of Rutshire reunite for more revelry, rivalry and romance, but as the stakes ramp-up they must face tragedy, heartbreak, backstabbing and betrayal head on,” a new synopsis has teased.
Meanwhile, a previously-released description from Disney teased that the new episodes “pick up after the heartbreaking mid-series finale”.
“Tony Baddingham and Declan O’Hara’s battle for the Cotswolds crown reaches fever pitch, while Rupert Campbell-Black is forced to confront his own personal demons,” the description reads.
“Against a backdrop of hedonistic parties, Bonfire Night chaos, the Hampshire Hunt Ball and a turbulent Christmas, affairs unravel, alliances fracture and rivalries intensify. Caught in the middle of the frenzied franchise war, Taggie O’Hara must find the courage to follow her heart, while those around her face the consequences of ambition, power and secrets that can no longer remain hidden.
“But as series two draws to a close, who will get their happy ending?”
Three new episodes of Rivals will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday 11 November, followed by three more new episodes to be released weekly.
Rivals writer Laura Wade claimed that the cliffhanger at the end of episode six was partly responsible for the mid-season pause, in an effort “for those bits of story to just have a moment to sink in with viewers” and “build up some anticipation”.
Disney has also already renewed Rivals for a third season.
