Leslie Barbi, executive vice president (EVP) and chief investment officer (CIO) of life and health reinsurance provider Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), has announced her intention to leave the company and retire, effective April 15, 2026.
Barbi is a member of the RGA Executive Committee and joined the life reinsurance company in 2020.
As CIO, Barbi leads a global investment team of approximately 250 professionals across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA) and Asia.
She is responsible for strategic leadership of RGA’s global asset platform, investment portfolio and investment policy.
Barbi has thirty years of experience in investment management, including two years in leadership roles in the insurance industry. She is also extensively involved across the business, serving on various corporate or steering committees, including Risk, Business, Balance Sheet, Technology and Rewards.
Additionally, Barbi’s board involvement includes the RGA Board of Directors and the Board Investment Committees of RGA entities around the world.
Barbi serves as the primary liaison to the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the RGA Board of Directors. She also serves on the Board of Directors of two of RGA’s key operating subsidiaries, RGA Reinsurance Company and RGA Life and Annuity Insurance Company.
