Independent specialist (re)insurance broker Miller has appointed Peter Stubbings as Chairman of Miller Bermuda, where he will support the continued growth of the company’s reinsurance and retrocession business in the Bermuda market, further strengthening its presence in the island.
Miller said that leveraging its long-standing relationships with reinsurance clients, Stubbings will also support new business generation by facilitating cross-selling opportunities between AHJ Miller, Miller’s reinsurance division and the wider Miller Bermuda business.
Stubbings has over forty years of experience in the reinsurance industry across multiple business lines and an extensive network of client relationships in London, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Nordics.
He joins Miller from McGill and Partners, where he was CEO of Bermuda from 2023, and previously served as UK&I CEO of Aon’s Global Reinsurance Specialties (GRS) division. Prior to that, he spent 14 years with Guy Carpenter, first as CEO EMEA and then CEO Bermuda.
Miller Group CEO James Hands commented: “Peter’s appointment is another important milestone in the expansion of our Bermuda team and the building of our rapidly growing reinsurance business.
“He brings more than 40 years of industry experience, an impressive record of international leadership and long-standing client relationships across multiple jurisdictions, which will be of great value to our growth in this important destination for global (re)insurance business. We are delighted to have Peter on board.”
Stubbings added: “I am delighted to be joining Miller at this exciting time in the expansion of our Bermuda operations and global reinsurance capabilities.
“Miller’s well-earned reputation for deep market expertise, exceptional customer service and product innovation makes this a unique and attractive opportunity and we are very excited about the growth potential for insurance, reinsurance and retrocession products on the Island and beyond.”
