Nobody Wants This actor Tovah Feldshuh has played down the suggestion that the cast’s opposing views on the current conflict in the Middle East have caused drama behind the scenes of the Netflix series.
Back in September, Tovah’s on-screen son Adam Brody – who was raised Jewish – called for a “free Palestine” during an interview with GQ, and made it clear that he thought Israel was committing a “genocide” in Gaza.
His comments echoed previous statements made by Amnesty International, a United Nations independent commission and multiple Israeli human rights groups.
Following this, showrunner Erin Foster made it clear that she “disagrees” with Adam on the matter, while Tovah – without mentioning names – said she believes that Jewish people accusing Israel of genocide “makes a difference to the community”.
“There are some people with [a] big following that have stated this,” she told the podcast UNscripted.
“All I can say is you know how I stand, and that I believe that the perseverance of the existence of the state of Israel is crucial to the well-being of the democratic world. Of the free world. And also to the global Jewish community. But absolutely to the free world.”
Elsewhere in her interview, the Emmy nominee opined: “To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator.”

In the days that followed, Tovah responded to a post on the social media site Threads which had suggested that “tensions are emerging on the set of the Netflix series Nobody Wants This”.
“Tensions are NOT RISING. Profound differences of opinion are,” she wrote back. “Please do not conflate the two – and none of it will be brought to the set.”
She added: “I deeply enjoy filming [Nobody Wants This] and hope we are chosen to go on for a fourth season.”
The third season of Nobody Wants This premiered on Netflix last month, and was generally considered an improvement on the second by critics.
Fans have now begun speculating about whether a fourth run could be on the cards, though Netflix is yet to make an announcement about the rom-com’s future.
