ING has strengthened its global insurance franchise with the appointment of Tom Duncan as Global Lead Insurance and Lauren Marshall as EMEA Lead Insurance.
The appointments underscore ING’s continued investment in sector-led coverage and its commitment to supporting insurance clients through a full range of banking and financial services solutions.
In his new role, Duncan is responsible for shaping ING’s global insurance strategy and coordinating activities across key markets. Partnering with regional teams and local sector experts, he will help clients access ING’s international network.
The executive brings over two decades of experience in insurance banking to his new ING, having most recently served as Managing Director and Head of Insurance for Europe and Asia at CIBC.
Before that, he spent over 20 years at HSBC, where he held several senior leadership positions in insurance coverage, including Head of Insurance Coverage for Asia-Pacific.
Throughout his career, Duncan has advised insurance clients across Europe and Asia on financing, capital and strategic priorities throughout his career.
As EMEA Lead Insurance, Marshall is tasked with overseeing the execution of ING’s regional sector strategy and growth ambitions.
She brings more than ten years’ experience advising insurers and other financial institutions across multiple regions. The executive is joining ING from HSBC, where she led insurance and financial institutions coverage in the Netherlands, having also held Director roles in Hong Kong and London prior to that.
Ellen Aelvoet, Global Head of Financial Institutions, commented: “Combining sector expertise, strong client relationships and global reach, these appointments will accelerate the growth of our insurance franchise and strengthen support for clients’ evolving needs.”
Duncan said: “Insurance clients are navigating changing markets and making important decisions about capital and growth. I’m excited to bring more than two decades of experience across Europe and Asia to ING, and to draw on its sector expertise and international network to support them.”
Duncan and Marshall will work closely with ING’s regional teams and sector specialists to deepen client relationships, identify growth opportunities and strengthen the bank’s position in the global insurance market.
For over three decades, ING has provided insurance clients tailored services, partnering with insurers across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
As part of its expanded Financial Institutions strategy, the bank is increasing its focus on the sector, reflecting the growing importance of specialised industry expertise and cross-border banking capabilities.
