MSIG USA, the US specialty insurance arm of the global MS&AD Insurance Group, has appointed Oscar Aguilar as Head of Excess and Surplus (E&S) Property.
In his new role, Aguilar will lead the strategy and develop MSIG USA’s E&S property business, focused on disciplined underwriting, portfolio performance, and sustainable growth.
He will also work closely with underwriting and distribution teams to build capabilities catering to the evolving needs of brokers and clients while leveraging data and technology.
Aguilar has over two decades of underwriting and leadership experience in the property market, with deep expertise in E&S, shared and layered property, and complex commercial risks.
He also has expertise in retail and wholesale distribution, primary and excess property, facultative reinsurance, and middle-market and large commercial accounts.
Most recently, Aguilar served at Liberty Mutual Insurance as Senior Vice President (SVP) and National Manager for major accounts in property, shared and layered. Previously, he led Liberty Mutual’s US retail property and spent six years at Ironshore Insurance, where he managed wholesale property across the Western and South Central regions.
Earlier in his career, Aguilar served as SVP at Brit Insurance, leading E&S property underwriting and support teams responsible for building a profitable portfolio, developing talent and advancing product capabilities.
He also held underwriting and senior roles at Maiden Reinsurance North America, GMAC RE, SRO Napa, St. Paul Companies and Sherwood Insurance.
