MSIG Asia, a general insurance company operating in Southeast Asia and part of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (MS&AD), has appointed Ronak Shah as its regional chief executive officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2026.

Shah succeeds Clemens Philippi, who will take over as co-chief strategy officer of MS&AD in April 2026, leading the group’s international business strategy.

In his new role, Shah will lead MSIG Asia’s established businesses in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, India and Oceania, with regional leadership responsibilities for China, Taiwan and South Korea.

He will also be responsible for guiding regional direction, advancing MSIG Asia’s strategic priorities, accelerating business performance in key markets, strengthening regional collaboration and deepening customer and partner engagement.

MSIG Asia explained that this expanded mandate reflects its commitment to greater strategic alignment across the Asia-Pacific region, enabling stronger collaboration, enhanced execution and accelerated growth while delivering greater value to its customers, partners and stakeholders.

Most recently, Shah served as CEO of QBE Asia’s wholesale markets in Asia. At the company, he has also held a number of senior leadership positions in the past, including country CEO of the Singapore operations.

He has more than two decades of experience in the insurance industry in Asia and North America, successfully leading business transformations, strengthening specialty insurance capabilities and building strong relationships with clients, partners and industry stakeholders in these regions.

Hironori Morimoto, MS&AD Group Chief Global Officer and Senior Managing Executive Officer, commented: “Ronak brings deep regional expertise, strategic insights and a proven track record of delivering results in complex and dynamic markets.

Shah said: “MSIG Asia has built a successful business with a clear purpose and I am proud to step in at such an important time in its journey. The company has a strong platform with a talented team, deep client relationships and a clear ambition to achieve its goals in the Asia Pacific region.

“My focus is simple: strengthen our strategy, empower our people to execute with excellence, and create greater value for the customers and partners who trust us. The opportunity in the region is huge, and I intend to take full advantage of it.”
