Netflix has announced details of a new documentary reflecting on the life and legacy of Matthew Perry.
On Tuesday, the streaming platform announced The One About Matthew Perry, a three-part series that will premiere next month, alongside a new trailer for the project, featuring interviews with his nearest and dearest, including his sister Mia Perry Bowick.
In the trailer, the late Friends actor’s sister is heard declaring that “all great stories have comedy and tragedy in them, and that certainly was Matthew’s story”, while opening up about her brother’s struggles with addiction.

“Matthew Perry was one of the comedic geniuses of our time,” director Mary Robertson said of her three-part doc.
“Through his many films, TV, and stage performances, and his unforgettable portrayal of Chandler Bing, he made millions of us laugh, connect, and feel a little less alone.
“He also gave us so much more by bravely speaking about addiction. Yet the public only knew part of his story. That’s why we set out to make this series: to let the people who knew and loved Matthew reveal the person behind the public figure.”
Other figures interviewed include lifelong friends and former co-stars and collaborators.
The One About Matthew Perry will begin streaming on Netflix on Tuesday 27 October.
Best known for his Emmy-nominated performance as Chandler in all 10 seasons of Friends, Matthew died in October 2023 at the age of 54.
His cause of death was later said to have been due to the result of the acute effects of ketamine use, exacerbated by accidental drowning.
Throughout his time in the spotlight, Matthew spoke candidly about his issues with substance abuse, most notably in his memoir Friends, Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing, published a year before his accidental death.
