AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, a Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance company, has announced that Matthew Kirk has served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective March 31, 2026.
AXIS originally announced Kirk’s appointment in August 2025. He succeeds Peter J. Vogt, who left AXIS after 16 years with the company and served as Chief Financial Officer since January 2018. As previously announced, Vogt will not remain in his role as strategic advisor through the end of the year.
Based in New York, Kirk will report directly to AXIS President and CEO Vince Tizzio and will serve on the company’s Executive Committee.
He brings nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He will join AXIS on October 31, 2025 as Special Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer until his planned appointment as Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to joining AXIS, Kirk served as Group Chief Financial Officer of Enstar Group Limited, where he oversaw the company’s global finance functions. Prior to that, he served as Group Treasurer of Enstar, where he was responsible for finance, capital management and investor relations.
He also held senior leadership positions at Sirius International Insurance Group, including group treasurer and president and managing director of Sirius Investment Advisors. He began his career with Arthur Andersen as an Assurance and Business Consulting Manager.
