Marsh, the professional services firm providing insurance, risk management and advisory services, has announced plans to appoint Kristof De Bremme as chief executive officer of its Netherlands business.

The appointment remains subject to regulatory approval and consultation with the works council. Marsh expects De Bremme to assume the position in early 2027, reporting to Tom Geraghty, CEO of Marsh Europe.

As CEO of Marsh Netherlands, De Bremme will be responsible for overseeing the business and ensuring clients can access the firm’s services and expertise to address their operational and commercial risks. He will retain his existing role as CEO of Marsh Belgium and Luxembourg, a position he has held since 2024.

His responsibilities will span the three countries, with a focus on providing insurance, risk consultancy and people-related solutions to businesses across the region. De Bremme is set to replace David Sanderse, who will become Chairman of Marsh Netherlands.

De Bremme has experience in both insurance broking and underwriting. Marsh said he returned to the company in December 2023 as Head of Marine, Cargo & Logistics for Europe, having first joined the firm in 1998 as a Senior Client Executive serving international marine and energy clients.

He spent nine years at Marsh before moving to AIG, where he held a number of senior underwriting roles over the following 14 years. His most recent position at AIG was Global Head of Marine, a role he held from 2016 to 2022.

Geraghty commented: “Kristof is an exceptional leader with a strong track record of serving clients and colleagues, and I am confident that his experience, together with the strength of Marsh’s global capabilities, will position our team in the Netherlands to help clients navigate an increasingly complex environment with greater confidence. He will build on the strong foundation David has created since joining in 2017. As one of the first leaders to bring together Marsh’s capabilities under combined leadership, David helped give clients broader access to our expertise, more integrated advice, and solutions tailored to their evolving needs.”

De Bremme added: “The Netherlands is a globally recognised hub for international trade, with world-class logistics networks and a strong presence in sectors such as technology, life sciences, and financial services. Yet businesses operating in the country continue to face a range of challenges, from economic volatility and talent shortages to cyber threats and climate-related risks, including flooding. I look forward to working with Marsh colleagues to bring the best of our business to clients across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg and help them navigate these challenges and pursue their growth ambitions.”

The planned appointment forms part of Marsh’s leadership arrangements across the Benelux region. Subject to the necessary approvals and consultation, De Bremme will combine responsibility for the Netherlands business with his existing leadership duties in Belgium and Luxembourg, while Sanderse moves into the chairmanship role.
