The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has revealed that Sheila Cameron, who has led the organisation as Chief Executive Officer since 2019, will step down from the role, continuing in her position into early 2027 to ensure an orderly and seamless transition before taking on a new advisory role in the London market, while the process to appoint her successor is already underway.
Cameron said it has been an “enormous privilege” to serve as CEO of the LMA and to represent the interests of managing agents during a period of significant change for the market.
She went on, “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and of the role the Association continues to play in supporting a vibrant, innovative and successful Lloyd’s market.”
“The LMA is in a strong position for the future with a talented leadership team, and I look forward to seeing the organisation continue to evolve and thrive under a new CEO.”
Sean McGovern, Chair of the LMA, said, “Sheila has been an outstanding champion for the Association and the wider Lloyd’s market.
“Through her vision, energy and leadership, she has strengthened the LMA’s position as the voice of the managing agency community, significantly expanding its influence, capabilities and impact.”
“It has been a privilege to work alongside Sheila throughout her time as CEO. Her leadership has transformed the profile and impact of the LMA, ensuring it remains a highly effective and respected voice for the underwriting community.”
McGovern continued, “Sheila has left an indelible mark on both the Association and the insurance industry. She played a leading role in advancing data and digital standards through her chairing of the London Market Group’s Data Council, championing of the Lloyd’s cultural reform agenda, and overseeing the growth of the LMA Academy, helping to develop the next generation of market talent.”
“Above all, Sheila brought integrity, empathy and a collaborative spirit to everything she did over the last seven years. Her commitment to diversity and inclusion and her ability to bring people together have helped make both the LMA and the Lloyd’s market stronger, more modern and better prepared for the future.”
“On behalf of the Board and all our members, I would like to thank Sheila for her outstanding service and wish her every success in the future.”
Patrick Tiernan, CEO of Lloyd’s, added, “Sheila’s service to the LMA, Lloyd’s and the London market has been immense and her impact immeasurable. She has strengthened the partnership between Lloyd’s and its managing agents, while holding the Corporation accountable on strategy, culture and budgetary issues.
“Sheila has perfected the role of critical friend; honest, insightful and unrelenting in private, while encouraging and supportive in public.
“We will miss her tireless energy in support of this marketplace but thank her for making Lloyd’s a better market for all. We wish her every success in her next role and hope she gets a well-earned break!”
