US property and casualty insurance company Westfield has announced the appointment of Lloyd Scholz as corporate chief information officer (CIO).
In his new role, Scholz will oversee the development and execution of a business-driven technology strategy designed to support Westfield’s continued growth, diversification and global expansion.
He will also leverage his more than 25 years of technology leadership experience in financial services and insurance to help Westfield advance the technology, data and analytics capabilities of its global property and casualty business.
Scholz will report directly to CEO and Chairman of the Board Ed Largent, who commented: “Technology is critical to executing our strategy – serving customers and distribution partners and driving our growing portfolio of businesses around the world.
“Lloyd has extensive experience in large-scale modernization, data strategy and complex organizational transformation. His leadership will help us accelerate and unlock more value from our technology investments and further position IT as a strategic business partner.”
Scholz joins Westfield from Markel where he served as senior managing director and chief technology officer, where he was responsible for the global leadership team supporting business operations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
In this role, he drove significant modernization initiatives in enterprise architecture, cloud engineering, software development and operations, data and artificial intelligence strategy, and agile delivery.
Prior to joining Markel, the executive spent 16 years at Capital One in progressive leadership roles focused on data engineering, analytics platforms, cloud strategy and enterprise technology transformation.
“I am excited to join Westfield at a time of strong growth and strategic expansion,” said Scholz. “The company’s commitment to modern platforms, data and artificial intelligence provides a strong foundation to continue evolving how technology supports the business. I look forward to working with teams across the enterprise to strengthen this foundation and improve capabilities to support innovation, integration and long-term success.”
