It’s official, celebs have taken over the sex toy world.
Last year it was Harry Styles with his Pleasing range and now, a year on from the release of West End Girl, Lily Allen has teamed up with Lovehoney to make a version of her iconic butt plug merch you can actually use.
The collab launches today, with a custom Lily Allen x Lovehoney blue and white polka dot butt plug inspired by the USB butt plug that she originally launched her album on (that was not body-safe, folks).
But this one, with its textured surface and flared base, most decidedly is – and it comes loaded with seven vibration patterns.
Of course, the pairing couldn’t stop there, so Lily has also curated an edit of her favourite Lovehoney sex toys to shop.
Mostly made up of clit toys, the collection is aimed at encouraging women to open up about their pleasure.
“I think women in particular can find it difficult to ask for what they want,” Lily said about why she wanted to create the collection.
“When I was younger, I know I did. We don’t always prioritise our own desires because we focus on pleasing others, doing our jobs properly and looking after our friends and family.
“We can forget that listening to what our body needs is just as important.”
Recent research commissioned by Lovehoney shows that just two in five women prioritise their self-pleasure, and that 50% of women consider their self-pleasure to be important, compared to almost 70% of men.
The research also found that 60% of women have never spoken to their friends about their sexual pleasure.
“For me, toys can help you to better understand your body and learn what you like,” said Lily. “I’ve been able to use that knowledge to express what I want in my relationships, which is empowering. And I hope this collection helps others feel similarly.”
The collection includes Womanizer Enhance, one of my personal favourite sex toys, which uses both vibration and suction technology, and (with over 1,000 possible combinations) that had a 100% orgasm rate in testing.
And, because suction toys are in vogue, Lily has also selected the Womanizer Peach to be part of her edit, which uses the same Pleasure Air Technology as the Enhance, but this time packaged in an adorable peach package.
Also included in the edit is Lovehoney’s heart-shaped suction and licking vibrator, and a vibrating rechargeable wand.
And of course, because it’s giving season, Lily has given Lovehoney’s 24-Day Enjoy Advent Calendar her seal of approval.
Admittedly, it’s not my favourite of Lovehoney’s sex toy Advent calendars, but it is the most affordable, and a great way for beginners to explore the world of sex toys for the first time.
That’s what is so great about celebs entering the sex toy market: it introduces new people to the world of pleasure, and will hopefully open up the conversation.
