Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, a global insurer providing commercial and personal insurance products and services, has appointed Gareth Rees as global business head of its Global Transaction Solutions (GTS) business, effective July 1, 2026.

Rees will be based in London and report to Thomas Leahy, global head of product for Liberty Mutual’s financial business. He played a key role in growing GTS’ global business. After joining the company in 2015, he served as chief underwriting officer for the past six years and held a series of senior roles.

As global route leader, Rees will work with the GTS team across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas to further strengthen the business’s transactional responsibility proposition and support its future direction.

Rees is a former corporate lawyer with extensive experience advising on mergers and acquisitions across a variety of industries. Liberty Mutual said his new responsibilities will include advancing the company’s strategic objectives as the GTS business enters its next phase of growth.

Leahy added: “We are delighted to announce Gareth as leader of GTS. Over the past decade, he has helped us build a global team of industry-leading trading risk experts. Under his leadership, we are confident that GTS will continue to provide clients and brokers with expertise and flexible solutions in an increasingly complex trading risk environment.”

Liberty Mutual said Reese replaces Rowan Bamford, who has left the company to pursue new opportunities.
