Corporate & Specialty lines insurer HDI Global (HDI) has expanded its established German medical malpractice business into an international offering with the launch of Global Healthcare Solutions, a new proposition to be led by Colin Lavey.
The launch of Global Healthcare Solutions marks the next step in HDI’s international expansion, allowing it to serve a wider spectrum of healthcare organisations across established medical malpractice expertise.
By bringing together specialist healthcare liability underwriting, local market capabilities, and HDI’s international underwriting platform, the initiative provides a comprehensive international proposition.
Dr Mukadder Erdönmez, Member of the HDI Global SE Executive Board, responsible for Liability, Cyber, Motor, and US Market, commented: “Healthcare organisations are navigating increasingly complex risk environments while adapting to demographic change, digitalisation, and new models of care.

Lavey was appointed Head of Global Healthcare Solutions, and tasked with leading the continued development of the new proposition, as well as support the growth of HDI Global’s healthcare business internationally.
The executive has been part of HDI Global for nine years and has held a range of underwriting and leadership positions since, including Director Liability UK & Ireland and, most recently, Executive Underwriter Automotive.
