KatRisk, a provider of catastrophe risk modeling and climate analytics, has acquired Symfos, the UK company powering Orchestra’s underwriting and portfolio intelligence platform.

KatRisk explained that the acquisition will combine its climate and catastrophe models with Symfos’ underwriting tools to help insurers move faster, better price risks and manage growing natural catastrophe risks.

As climate risks intensify, the KatRisk-Symfos deal aims to transform complex risk data into practical tools for underwriting, risk management and execution decisions.

Martyn Sutton, Managing Director at KatRisk, commented: “Symfos has built a powerful platform that helps insurers transform complex risk data into meaningful decisions.

“By bringing our teams and technologies together, we enable clients to more easily illuminate complex risks and support more confident decisions.”

Bao Cam, CEO of Symfos, added: “We are joining a group of companies that share our values and ambitions. This acquisition provides Symfos with the scale and support to grow while staying true to our open philosophy and customer-first approach.”

Symfos’ Orchestra platform reportedly provides a single, unified view of portfolio risk, enabling underwriting, exposure and analytics teams to understand risk, quickly test scenarios and make informed decisions in real time.

It is also said to support dynamic pricing and rapid portfolio analysis without tying clients to any single disaster model.

Against this backdrop, KatRisk observes that Orchestra will add a critical decision-making layer to its ecosystem by making catastrophe model outputs easier to interpret, compare and apply to underwriting and financial decisions.
