Joe Biden’s son has branded Donald Trump “a complete and utter racist pig” over comments he made about a Democratic candidate in the US midterm elections.
Hunter Biden went on the attack as American voters prepare to go to the polls in what is seen by many as a referendum on the US president.
Trump has repeatedly hit out at Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed, who is a practicing Muslim.
At a campaign rally, the president described El-Sayed, who is locked in a tight battle with Trump-backed Republican candidate Mike Rogers in Michigan, as a “jihadist lunatic”.
He said that Congress would have to “get a special metal detector for Abdul” if he were elected.
Speaking to the BBC’s Newsnight programme on Monday, Hunter Biden said: “Donald Trump is a complete and utter racist pig. That’s what I think.
“I think that he is an Islamophobe. I think he is a racist through and through. And I don’t need to say that as if it is conjecture on my part. There you have the evidence of it.
“I mean, because his name is Abdul Mohammed Al-Sayed, he therefore needs to go through a metal detector. What, what, why? What is it, what are the things that would require that of someone that is running for the United States Senate that was born in Michigan, other than the fact that he’s Muslim?
“And I think that that is, I hope we are done with this BS in American politics. Call it whatever it is. He is an Islamophobic racist pig.”
Trump has previously said: “I am the least racist person you have ever met.”
Opinion polls are predicting that the Democrats will win the midterm elections, and could even take control of both the US Senate and the House of Representatives.
Biden said that if that were to happen, people should be “very, very, very, very nervous” about what an angry Trump could do next in Iran.
He said: “I know that there’s now talk, and maybe legitimate or not legitimate, and I’ve heard it from more people than just Tucker Carlson, that they’re considering deploying a tactical nuclear weapon in Iran.
“And whether it’s a tactical, nuclear weapon, it’s one of the Moab weapons, which is the largest ordinance that the United States government, other than a nuclear weapon, has, which Donald Trump’s words is a mini nuclear bomb.
“As he’s flat out said after Tuesday, all bets are off. And I think that he’s just crazy enough to do it. And I don’t know who’s there to stop him. We should all be very, very, very, very nervous about what’s gonna happen next.”
