ICEYE, the company that operates the world’s largest synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation, has announced the expansion of its wildfire intelligence capabilities into Canada, a country of high concern. A country hit by wildfires.
A recent report from the Canadian Climate Institute highlighted the surge in wildfire activity, noting that three of the worst fire seasons on record have occurred in the past three years.
As a result, ICEYE’s wildfire solutions have become a much-needed resource for insurance companies, government agencies and risk management organizations operating in the country.
Insurers and reinsurers using the ICEYE satellite constellation are able to obtain real-time building-level intelligence during natural disasters, including wildfires, hurricanes and floods.
With this launch, ICEYE can now provide comprehensive wildfire intelligence across Canada, including near real-time monitoring and structure-level damage assessment.
This expansion makes Canada the third major high-risk region, after the United States and Australia, to be supported by ICEYE’s complete wildfire capabilities.
Within this suite of tools, ICEYE’s building-level damage assessment is critical for clients who require timely intelligence. Regardless of smoke, clouds or darkness, SAR satellites can gather fast, accurate insights, enabling faster emergency response and risk assessment.
“Canada has been our focus for some time and we’re proud to offer the same proven capabilities our customers rely on in the U.S. and Australia,” said Penelope Kourkouli, product manager at ICEYE. “This launch expands our wildfire offerings into a third major market and reflects the growing need for faster, more reliable wildfire intelligence in high-risk areas.”
