Gallagher, the global insurance broking and risk management group, has strengthened its Private Equity and M&A (PEMA) operation in EMEA with the appointment of Paul Jeroen van de Grampel as Chief Commercial Officer EMEA.
Based in London, van de Grampel will work across the EMEA region as Gallagher continues to develop its specialist offering for private capital investors, corporate buyers and participants in the M&A advisory market.
His responsibilities will include developing the PEMA proposition, managing client relationships and overseeing the distribution of specialist insurance products and services, Gallagher said.
The company said van de Grampel has more than 25 years of experience spanning private equity, M&A, asset management and insurance. His career has included work as a corporate M&A lawyer, a partner at a private equity fund and senior positions within the private equity and M&A divisions of a major insurance broker.
His more recent work has involved international litigation funders, private equity funds and start-ups. The company added that his experience includes cross-border transactions and contingent risks across private capital, M&A, litigation and fund structuring.
The appointment comes alongside two further senior hires intended to strengthen the operational side of Gallagher’s EMEA PEMA business. Louis Mannell has joined as Operations Director, EMEA, while Joshua Yardley has been appointed Operations Manager, UK.
According to Gallagher, both Mannell and Yardley have experience working at a peer firm during a period of substantial growth in private equity and M&A insurance. The company said their operational expertise will support the continued development and expansion of its PEMA activities across the region.

The latest appointments form part of a broader international strategy to grow its M&A, private capital and portfolio solutions capabilities. The company is developing multidisciplinary teams in both EMEA and the US as it expands its support for clients involved in transactions and investment activity.
Its PEMA operation provides insurance and advisory services covering a range of transaction-related risks. Gallagher said its offering includes risk and insurance due diligence, pension and benefits due diligence, warranty and indemnity insurance, structured credit, tax liability and contingent liability solutions.
The company said demand for these services has increased as private equity firms, investment funds and corporates seek to address transaction risks associated with a more uncertain economic environment.
