Legacy acquirer DARAG Group has appointed Paul Martin as Non-Executive Senior Group Actuarial Adviser.
The appointment aims to reinforce the firm’s actuarial, risk, and capital expertise, as Martin has over 35 years of experience across the London insurance and actuarial markets.
Since 2015, he has held several senior non-executive positions, including at Lancashire Syndicates, Aspen Insurance UK, and IGI.
In the past, Martin has served as Catlin’s Group Chief Actuary, later being promoted to Group Chief Risk Officer, leading a global team of actuaries, risk professionals, catastrophe modellers, and financial market specialists.
He has also worked at Tillinghast, Sturge and EY, as a member of the team that established the firm’s property and casualty actuarial consulting practice.
Tom Booth, Chief Executive Officer, DARAG, commented on the appointment, “We are delighted to welcome Paul to DARAG. His extensive actuarial, risk and capital knowledge, combined with his deep understanding of the London market and significant board-level experience, will provide valuable independent insight as we continue to develop our business.”
Martin added, “I am very pleased to be joining DARAG. The legacy market presents a fascinating combination of actuarial, risk, capital and transaction considerations, and I look forward to bringing my experience to support the Group and its clients.”
Recently, DARAG Group entered into a portfolio transfer agreement (PTA) with Domus Forsikring A/S, for its entire change of ownership (Husejerskifte) and building damage (Byggeskade) portfolio in Denmark, as it continued its Nordic expansion.
