Cynthia Sze to lead Liberty’s unified Hong Kong unit as CEO

Liberty, a unit of property and casualty insurer Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Cynthia Sze as Hong Kong chief executive officer (CEO), effective from May 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

Liberty’s Hong Kong entities will be unified by consolidating their operations under a single license, effective April 1, 2026.

Liberty International Insurance Limited will operate under the Liberty brand, providing a comprehensive range of personal, business and professional insurance solutions to the region.

The move also aims to create a stronger and more comprehensive platform to serve agents, brokers, clients and partners across Hong Kong.

In his new role, Sze will lead Liberty’s unified Hong Kong operations and report to Matthew Jackson, president of Liberty International Insurance Asia Pacific. Her focus will be on uniting the team, improving market execution and accelerating sustainable growth.

Sze has more than 25 years of industry experience in Hong Kong and North Asia and is recognized for building high-performing teams, delivering rigorous underwriting results and strengthening long-term broker and client relationships.

Jackson commented: “2026 is a decisive year for Liberty in Hong Kong and across the Asia Pacific region. As Liberty operates in the market, we are able to provide customers and distribution partners with greater clarity, consistency and capabilities. Cynthia’s leadership experience and deep market expertise position us well for the next phase of growth.”

As part of the integration, Liberty Specialty Markets vice president and CEO Eddie Young and Liberty Insurance treasurer Cynthia Leung will leave Liberty at the end of July upon completion of the merger.
