Global property and casualty insurer Chubb has announced two new leadership appointments to its Digital Business organisation: Johan Oosthuizen as Global Head of Digital Business, and Gabriel Lazaro as Global Head of Digital Growth & Strategic Consumer Partnerships.
These new additions follow the appointment of Sean Ringsted’s appointment as Chief Scientist and Executive Vice President of Chubb Group.
In his new position, Oosthuizen will have executive responsibility for all aspects of the digital business globally, including the acquisition and performance of partnerships across Chubb’s digital business, and the deployment of approved products
The executive brings over two decades of experience in digital transformation and innovation, and has been instrumental in building Chubb’s embedded insurance and digital partnership capabilities.
He most recently served as Global Digital Chief Technology Officer, leading Chubb’s global digital technology strategy and droving the company’s digital business growth aspirations.
In his new role, Oosthuizen will report to Paul McNamee, President, Overseas General Insurance and Executive Vice President, Chubb Group, and will be accountable to Bryce Johns, President, Chubb Life and Senior Vice President, Chubb Group, for life related production.
“Johan has been an integral part of the technology strategy that made our digital ambitions possible,” said Ringsted. “His deep technical expertise, paired with his commercial instincts for how partnerships create value, makes him exactly the right leader to take our digital business into its next phase of growth.”
As Global Head of Digital Growth & Strategic Consumer Partnerships, Lazaro will be responsible for Chubb’s partnership relationships, including a shared vision and strategies for growth across digital platforms, technology companies and emerging ecosystems.
The position aims to drive new growth and refresh existing P&C and Life relationships across Chubb overseas General and North America, delivering value by addressing evolving customer needs.
Lazaro has been with Chubb since 2016, when he joined the company as Head of Digital for Latin America, and was later promoted to Executive Vice President, Head of Digital Business for Overseas General Insurance. His career also includes positions at AIG.
In the spirit of partnership, the executive will be reporting  to Johan Oosthuizen and to Paul McNamee, who commented: “Gabriel has consistently demonstrated his ability to collaborate with our digital partners throughout Chubb Overseas General to build long lasting insurance relationships.
“His track record across Overseas General Insurance speaks for itself, and I’m confident he’ll bring that same energy and discipline to our global partnership strategy.”
