Chris Appleton has heaped praise on his Strictly Come Dancing partner Amy Dowden, following their elimination from the show over the weekend.
Posting on Monday evening, the celebrity hairstylist shared some highlights from his and Amy’s time on Strictly, claiming: “I’m still terrified of dancing. Just not when I’m with Amy.
“My hands were shaking, my heart was racing, and I was sure I’d forget everything with everyone watching.
“Amy, you help me believe in myself when I couldn’t and get out there and do it anyway! That means more than you know.”
Chris added that he was dedicating his time on Strictly to the “little boy who felt different and was afraid of getting things wrong” as well as “anyone who’s ever let that fear stop them from trying”.
“You don’t have to feel confident to give yourself a chance,” he concluded. “Sometimes, you just have to do it shaking.”
After being eliminated by the judges over the weekend, Chris enthused: “It’s been so amazing to be a part of such a special thing that I grew up watching, and I feel very proud to be a part of it.
“But the most important thing I think I’ll take from this show is having a friend in Amy, because I genuinely love [her] and am so grateful that I met someone who has so much heart.”
He admitted: “I already wish I’d done better for her because she deserves to go further in the competition. But we did put everything into it, so it is what it is.”
Amy agreed: “My heart is only breaking because I don’t get to dance with you on Monday. But, I get a friend for life, and that’s what’s going to heal my broken heart.”
Since then, Amy also lauded Chris in her own emotional social media post, telling him: “I honestly don’t think words can quite describe how proud I am of you.”
