Between her unfiltered appearance in the Girls Aloud doc Off The Record, her enthusiastic takes on The X Factor and the countless TV interviews she’s given over her years in the spotlight, Cheryl Tweedy is something of a one-woman meme machine.
And for her new collaboration with Deliveroo, the Fight For This Love singer is paying homage to one of her most infamous viral moments.
Back in 2012, Cheryl took part in the documentary Girls Aloud: Ten Years At The Top, in which she and her bandmates looked back over their ascent to fame.
Reflecting on Girls Aloud’s overnight success in the early 2000s, the chart-topping singer delivered the immortal line: “Slowly but surely, you start to realise, ‘actually, I can’t nip to the garage in my pyjamas anymore for a pint of milk, even if I want to’.”
Almost 15 years later, the quote is still a go-to reaction meme on social media, with Cheryl and Deliveroo using it as the basis of their new collab.
“I can’t believe it’s still doing the rounds, but we’ve had a good laugh giving it a glow up all these years later,” Cheryl said of her iconic quote.
She added: “At least I no longer have that dilemma with Tesco now on Deliveroo – so nothing stands between me and my morning cuppa.”
To commemorate the new Deliveroo campaign, anyone who orders from Tesco using the delivery app between Wednesday 28 and Friday 30 October could be in for a special treat.
Randomly-selected customers will receive what’s been dubbed as a “Cheryl-Skimmed bundle” as part of their order, which will include Deliveroo-inspired pyjamas and a milk jug signed by the former Girls Aloud star herself.
Cheryl is currently gearing up for her return to our screens as a coach on the next season of The Voice UK, where she and Aitch will join existing panellists Kelly Rowland and Will.i.am.
Of course, Cheryl and Will.i.am already go way back, as he has previously produced some of her most well-known solo music.
The Sun recently reported she’s also planning to follow in the footsteps of Kylie Minogue, David Beckham and Katie Price with a new career-spanning doc about her life in the limelight.
