Global specialist property and casualty insurer and reinsurer Canopius Group has appointed Winnie Tay as underwriter of Financial Lines in Singapore, reporting to Robert Barnum, head of financial lines, Asia Pacific (APAC).
In her new role, Tay is responsible for supporting the continued development of the reinsurer/insurer finance business’ underwriting capabilities within the region.
Tay worked in the financial sector in Singapore and Southeast Asia for more than a decade before joining Allianz Global Corporate & Professional.
Most recently, she served as senior financial underwriter and head of professional indemnity in Southeast Asia, where she oversaw the underwriting and portfolio management of a multi-market professional indemnity portfolio.
“She combines disciplined pricing and disciplined risk selection with strong broker relationships and provides valuable insights into underwriting strategy and business development,” the reinsurer explained.
Commenting on the appointment, Barnum said: “Winnie brings deep Financial Lines expertise and detailed understanding of regional markets.
“Her appointment further strengthens our Singapore platform as we continue to develop and enhance our financial capabilities across Asia Pacific.”
