Canopius appoints Jasan Fitzpatrick as General Counsel

Global specialist property and casualty re/insurer Canopius Group has appointed Jasan Fitzpatrick as general counsel, effective April 1, 2026.

In this newly created role, Fitzpatrick will report to Canopius Group CEO Neil Robertson.

His new role includes responsibilities previously held by Chief Risk Officer Sheldon Lacy.

Fitzpatrick brings extensive legal and regulatory expertise. The company expects that he will play an important role in supporting Canopius as it continues to expand its footprint in its jurisdictions.

Most recently, he served as group director of mergers and acquisitions at Legal & General, where he was responsible for leading global transaction activities across the group.

In the past, Fitzpatrick served as general counsel at Legal & General Capital, Cala Homes, Premium Credit and Northern Rock.

Robertson commented: “We are delighted to welcome Jasan to Canopius. He brings critical expertise at a time when the organization continues to scale and we face increasingly complex legal frameworks and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. This newly created role means we can deliver on our ambitious growth plans with greater confidence.”

Fitzpatrick added: “I am delighted to be joining the Canopius leadership team at such a critical time. As the group continues to grow and evolve on the back of strong performance and momentum, it is important to continue to position the business well from a global legal perspective. I am delighted to contribute to the next chapter and support the organisation’s ambitions.”
