Canopius appoints Bridges and Cannon to senior claims roles

Global specialist property and casualty reinsurer Canopius Group has appointed Dan Bridges as head of Bermuda claims and global head of reinsurance claims, and Patrick Cannon as global head of cyber claims.

The two senior appointments are in line with the reinsurer’s commitment to delivering claims excellence around the world. Bridges and Cannon will join the business in August and May respectively.

Bridges will take up his new role in Bermuda. He has over twenty years of experience in the London market. Most recently he spent six years at SCOR P&C as Head of UK and MEA Treaty Claims.

In the past, Bridges served as director of claims for Pioneer Underwriters and director of reinsurance claims for Markel.

Charles Cooper, CEO of Canopius Group Bermuda, commented on the appointment: “Canopius is always looking for ways to best serve its brokers and insureds and we pride ourselves on always looking for reasons to pay claims.

“As our Bermuda reinsurance business rapidly expands, it is vital to maintain this philosophy. Having Dan lead claims is a key part of this. His expertise and experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and I look forward to welcoming him.”

In the meantime, Cannon will be based in London and departing from Onda, where he served as chief claims officer for two years. He also has over twenty years’ experience, having held senior claims positions at Marsh and Tokio Marine Kiln.
