Bamboo Insurance, a property insurance provider specializing in insurance solutions for challenging markets, announced a new partnership with MS Transverse Insurance Company to increase its admitted homeowners and residential fire insurance capabilities in California.
The partnership provides approximately $150 million in additional underwriting capacity and expands the selection of Bamboo Insurance’s existing product portfolio.
Bamboo Insurance said the purpose of the agreement is to improve access to coverage for homeowners, landlords and insurance agents in areas where insurance supply is increasingly limited.
The expanded offerings will support customers in high-risk and disaster-prone areas such as Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco, where reduced insurer participation has put additional pressure on the homeowners insurance market.
“Our partnership with MS Transverse represents a meaningful step forward in our efforts to balance affordability and capacity in a challenging market,” said John Chu, CEO of Bamboo Insurance. “By expanding our carrier relationships and introducing more precise underwriting tools, we are able to offer more competitive pricing while maintaining the discipline needed for long-term sustainability.”
Bamboo Insurance said the partnership builds on its existing approved insurance plans, introducing additional policy options with a more adaptable underwriting structure. The company said the changes are designed to create more choice for customers while supporting more accurate risk assessment and pricing.
As part of its expanded offering, Bamboo Insurance has introduced higher deductible options of up to $10,000, providing policyholders with greater flexibility in choosing coverage arrangements. The company has also added mandatory water damage sub-limits with multi-tier options, allowing policies to be structured based on different risk profiles.
Baizhu Insurance has also launched a revised claims-free discount program to provide increasing discounts to policyholders who have no claims for a long period of time. The company said the approach aims to recognize responsible policy management over time.
According to Bamboo Insurance, the additional underwriting capacity and enhanced underwriting capabilities enhance its ability to serve the recognized homeowner and difference in condition (DIC) markets.
The company said the expanded product offering will provide agents with greater opportunities to place qualified risks in recognized markets, including coverage for high-value homes, rather than relying solely on residual line alternatives.
The news comes as California’s residential insurance industry continues to face challenges such as increased reconstruction costs, natural disaster risks and reduced available insurance capacity.
“MS Transverse enhances our ability to continue writing in a challenging market while providing agents and their clients with more competitive and configurable pricing options,” Chu continued.
Bamboo Insurance said the increased coverage capacity will apply to new policies and renewals throughout California, effective July 17, 2026. Coverage will continue to be available through Bamboo Insurance’s network of agents and partners and will continue to be subject to applicable underwriting requirements, qualifications and regulatory approvals.
