Ariel Re names Sammons as Active Underwriter of Syndicate 2006 following Lloyd’s approval

Ariel Re, a global reinsurer with offices in Bermuda, London and Hong Kong, has appointed Richard Sammons as active underwriter for Syndicate 2006, subject to Lloyd’s approval.

In this role, Sammons will lead Syndicate 2006 and help drive Ariel Re’s continued emphasis on underwriting discipline and delivering sustainable returns across its specialty reinsurance portfolio.

According to the company, Syndicate 2006 is a key component of its Lloyd’s platform, complements Syndicate 1910 and enhances its ability to flexibly deploy capital across the property, casualty and specialty reinsurance sectors.

Darren Lednor, Managing Director of Ariel Re, commented on the appointment: “Richard is a highly respected market leader with deep technical expertise and a proven track record in specialty reinsurance.

“His disciplined underwriting approach, leadership experience and strong market relationships make him an excellent addition to Ariel Re.

Sammons has nearly 30 years of experience across the industry Lloyd’s and global reinsurance markets, having been in Gallagher again and hamilton reinsurance.

Most recently he was head of aerospace for Gallagher Re’s UK operations. Prior to this, Sammons spent ten years at Hamilton Re BermudaThere he was promoted to Head of Specialty Reinsurance and played a key role in building a diversified Specialty Reinsurance portfolio.
