Aon reveals new leadership structure for Reinsurance in UK and Ireland

Major global insurance and reinsurance broking group Aon has expanded Tom Murray’s role to head of UK and Ireland reinsurance and appointed a new leader within the team to support the efficient delivery of solutions and services to clients.

In addition to his role as co-leader of Aon’s global reinsurance business, Murray is responsible for the overall strategy, performance and growth of the broker’s reinsurance business in the region.

Aon said he will focus on delivering the company’s comprehensive capabilities to clients, enhancing collaboration across solution lines and driving innovation to meet evolving client needs.

Aon has appointed Andrew Buckland as chief operating officer of its UK Reinsurance and Ireland teams, effective immediately. In this role, Buckland oversees reinsurance business operations in the UK and Ireland, including operational excellence, infrastructure and transformation programs and people development.

Additionally, in his role as Head of Business Strategy, Charlie New is responsible for developing and executing the reinsurance strategic agenda for the UK and Ireland. His focus will be on growth plans, market positioning and key change initiatives.

Andrew Larkin will serve as head of Aon’s reinsurance property business in the UK and Ireland. He will be responsible for overseeing client strategy, market relationships and the development of customized risk transfer and advisory solutions. Aon confirmed Larkin will continue as regional head of Australia and New Zealand.

Finally, Richard Evans has been appointed head of long-tail and structured solutions, where he will lead the long-tail portfolio in the UK and Ireland, including motor and liability insurance.

All leaders will report to Murray, who commented: “I am excited to work with such a strong leadership team.
