Global insurance and reinsurance group Aon has expanded its proprietary Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program (DCLP) by an additional $1 billion, increasing total capacity to $3.5 billion.
At the same time, the broker has also expanded the program’s coverage to include existing data centers that have exceeded their first year of operation.
The broker explained that the program now provides long-term operational continuity coverage, extending coordinated support beyond construction and commissioning to existing mission-critical data center assets.
Aon’s DCLP launches in June 2025 as a multi-line insurance solution designed to address the interrelated construction, operational, cyber and financial risks faced by data center owners, developers and investors.
In January 2026, Aon expanded its DCLP from an initial $1.5 billion to $2.5 billion and has now increased total capacity again.
This latest expansion reflects Aon’s response to accelerating global investment in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and hyperscale infrastructure, and the growing importance of resilience as data centers become larger, more capital intensive and more critical to the global economy.
The expanded program includes up to $3.5 billion in coverage for all risks of construction, delay in start-up (DSU) and operational property damage or business interruption.
It also includes up to $400 million in cyber and technical E&O coverage, including lossless cyber DSU and ransomware protection, up to $200 million in global third-party liability (including $100 million in U.S. excess capacity), and up to $500 million in project cargo and transportation coverage.
Risk engineering and cyber impact modeling are available through Aon’s global risk consulting team, with capabilities supported by a global group of A-rated or above insurers in the Lloyd’s and Corporate markets.
Joe Peiser, CEO of Aon Venture Capital, commented: “Data centers have become the foundation for innovation, connectivity and economic growth. As these assets grow in size, complexity and importance, resilience must be built in from the start.
“By expanding our data center lifecycle insurance program and extending coverage to operational data centers, Aon is helping clients predict risk, protect critical assets and invest in digital infrastructure with greater confidence.”
