Aon Germany Reinsurance CEO Jan-Oliver Thofern to retire

Aon, the global insurance and reinsurance brokerage and risk advisor, announced that Jan-Oliver Thofern, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aon Reinsurance and Chairman of the National Board of Directors of Aon Germany, will retire on January 1, 2027.

Pending his retirement, Toffern will continue to carry out his full responsibilities and his successor will be identified through a structured process that Aon confirms is already underway and will be announced in due course.

He joined Aon Insurance Brokers in 1993 and retired after more than 30 years of service with Aon Insurance. Toffern has held various leadership positions within Aon Insurance Group in Germany and internationally.

In 2008, Toffern was appointed to the Management Board of Aon Deutschland Holding GmbH and became CEO of the German reinsurance company.

He later took on the additional responsibility of serving as Chairman of the National Board of Directors for all Aon solutions families in Germany. Toffern began his career with Allianz Life Insurance Company.

Thofern added: “I am honored to lead Aon’s reinsurance business in Germany alongside a talented and motivated team while helping to deliver strategic, cross-functional solutions to our clients, including those in the primary insurance market.”
