Global professional services firm Aon has announced the appointment of David Crofts as global head of financial sponsor capital solutions, effective August 1, 2026.
In his new role, Crofts will work with financial sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds and other capital providers to pursue insurance-related opportunities, including investments in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance businesses, life insurance and wealth-related opportunities. He will report to Aon Venture Capital CEO Joe Peiser.
Crofts rejoined Aon in 2025 as head of financial sponsors for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, having previously spent nearly six years at the company as managing director of its global risk advisory business.
During his two tenures at Aon, he served as executive director of enterprise risk management at Mubadala Investment Company for nearly eight years.
Aon said the appointment reflects its commitment to helping financial sponsor clients access and evaluate investment opportunities across the insurance and reinsurance ecosystem.
