Angus Kench joins Munich Re Specialty, Global Markets, Australia

Global reinsurer Munich Re has appointed Angus Kench as head of specialist commercial claims for global markets at Munich Re Australia, effective 1 July 2026.

The appointment is in line with the reinsurer’s long-term growth objectives and continues to expand the team following the recent appointment of Bob Algie.

Kench has nearly 35 years of industry experience and currently serves on several boards.

Most recently, he served on the Asia Pacific Global Casualty Products Committee for Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), a subsidiary of Liberty Mutual Group. Kench joined the company in 2015 and also served as Vice President, Casualty Compensation and Crisis Management Claims for LSM Asia Pacific.

His previous experience includes serving as a director of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA), serving as President for two years and Immediate Past President for five years. Kench also served as AILA’s NSW National President and State President.

Kench also served at Cerno as member of the Executive Board, General Manager of Expertise and Adjustment Services, General Manager of Expertise Services and Country Technical Manager. He started his career in 1992 as a Director of the Aspeck Group.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Mackinnon, Global Head of Specialty Global Markets at Munich Re Australia, said: “Claims delivery is the ultimate value proposition of our business and we are delighted to welcome Angus into this key role.”
