This Morning host Alison Hammond had a health update for her fans on Saturday morning, after an incident during the previous day’s live show that led her to walk off the set mid-broadcast.

During a segment in Friday’s edition of This Morning, Alison was seen abruptly leaving the This Morning, gasping and clutching her chest.

She did not return to the set during the broadcast, and later shared a video from a medical facility, where she disclosed that she was having her heart tested as a precaution.

“Honestly, I am fine, first of all – but I’m getting my old ticker checked out,” the Great British Bake Off presenter explained. “I had a little bit of a palpation, and now, I’m getting it all checked out.

“But I think I’m OK – I’m hoping it was just a little panic attack or something like that.”

Indeed, the following day, Alison shared another video to her Instagram story, confirming that doctors had given her an “all-clear” after her tests on Friday.

“[That] would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. I mean, the shame of it,” she joked (as reported by BBC News).

Alison explained: “It felt very real to me. I’m really new to panic attacks, so I need to learn more about it.”

She added that the support shown by her This Morning colleagues, NHS staff and members of the public had “warmed my heart”, noting: “I didn’t necessarily want to be on the news or anything like that but this is a new world to me.

Following a sudden ad break, Alison’s regular This Morning co-host Dermot O’Leary told viewers on Friday: “Ali’s feeling just a little unwell, so she’s had to duck out. Hopefully, she’ll be back in a sec.”

Dermot and Alison have hosted the ITV daytime show together on Fridays, as well as during school holidays, since 2020.
