Acrisure launches Asero Insurance Services to unite US specialty MGAs under one brand

Acrisure, a global fintech company providing insurance, reinsurance, real estate and financial services, has launched Asero Insurance Services, a new specialty managed general agency (MGA) that combines multiple program managers across the United States under one brand.

Asero was formed to bring together specialist underwriting businesses while retaining their respective expertise, the company said.

Acrisure said the platform combines underwriting knowledge with shared access to data and analytics, actuarial support and technology to enable businesses to underwrite complex and difficult-to-treat risks. Acrisure added that Asero also benefits from the company’s centralized legal, regulatory, finance, accounting, human resources and other corporate services.

The company has 13 MGAs in the United States that collectively write more than $1 billion in premiums, six of which will initially join the Asero brand, with the others expected to transition over time.

Acrisure said Asero’s underwriting team operates under licensing agreements with independent insurers that allow the company to underwrite and issue policies on behalf of insurers. The company’s products are distributed through independent retail brokers, wholesale brokers and alternative distribution channels.

Asero provides insurance solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in industries such as commercial automotive, logistics, commercial real estate, security and alarm contractors, craftsmen contractors, and snow and ice removal. Its portfolio includes property, casualty, workers’ compensation and a range of specialty insurance products.

Chris Bressette, chief underwriting officer at Acrisure, commented: “Asero combines specialized underwriting expertise with deep data, analytics and claims insights on select business groups and categories. This framework allows us to leverage our shared expertise while retaining the professionalism and trusted relationships that have always characterized our teams.”

Adrian Jones, head of underwriting and specialist retail at Acrisure, added: “Asero is the next step in consolidating nearly 20 acquisitions into one underwriting platform. Each project within Asero is run by a dedicated team with deep experience in a specific product or business category. At Asero, underwriting comes first.”

The launch of Asero follows the launch of Ascendri Insurance Services and the acquisition of MGA Vave properties by Acrisure earlier this year as the company continues to expand its specialty underwriting business.
